Upside Down Arts

Upside Down Arts is a Performing Arts School based in Dunfermline and Inverkeithing offering Children’s Acrobatics, Dance, Drama, and Aerial Classes.

At UDA we believe in providing only the best; offering small class numbers so your child has a real chance to shine and develop their individual skills with more 1-1 student teacher time.

Miss Sarah, business owner and teacher, has been teaching children to dance for 4+ years working with 0-18months all the way up to teenagers. Sarah has a Higher National Diploma in Professional Stage Dance, and is fully certified as a Children’s Aerial & Acro-Dance Instructor affiliated through X-PERT and Acrobatic Arts.

CONFIDENCE BUILDING, ENGAGING and GREAT VALUE

    Upside Down Arts

After trying our hand at circus skills two years running at Wildhood festival (and watching The Greatest Showman on repeat), we’d been really keen to see what an aerial acrobatics class would be like. Luckily we didn’t have to wait long. Upside Down Arts joined the Fife for Kids community at the end of 2019 and invited us along to try a class. Off we popped to meet Sarah at her studio in Inverkeithing with no idea what to expect.

The boys were a little anxious about how much they’d need to know but thankfully the class is tailored toward each individual. After a group warm up, the class was split into three small groups and each person given instructions on what to be working on.

Sarah keeps the numbers low so that she can be on hand to help anyone that needs it, though most of the kids there were full of confidence and able to go off to practice themselves, giving Tom and Charlie and opportunity to have Sarah all to themselves. They were each able to have plenty of time learning some hoop and silk skills with Sarah on hand to help.

We came away from the class tired but very excitable and there were lots of chats en route home about which after school activities could be dumped in favour of Sarah’s class 🤣

    What did the kiddos think?

    Charlie:
I thought the class was really different and fun. It felt like I was a real life acrobat flying through the air on the hoop. The purple aerial hammock was my favourite but I did feel a bit motion sick spinning around upside down!

    Tom:
I loved it all and I want to be an acrobat when I grow up. My mum says when I can swim 2 lengths I can stop swimming lessons and come back to this class properly!
