The Ecology Centre is an inclusive, community-led charity that inspires positive change through bringing people and the natural environment together for the benefit of both. It’s a simple premise, but one that has been changing and influencing lives for 20 years!
The community owned site is a haven for wildlife, plants and those that love them. Welcoming over 5,000 visitors annually through our Education programme, the Centre provides volunteering and training opportunities on our site, garden and Tool Shed and educational opportunities across a range of areas – all stimulating and all worthwhile.
The Centre is sited on community owned land and the team manage it to ensure it’s a safe and inviting place for everyone to come and enjoy. There’s lots for children to explore, including our mud kitchen where kids can make mud pies or camp out in the children’s bird hide to spot the infamous Kingfisher that visits the Loch. There’s plenty for adults too – take a journey around our Community Garden and polytunnel and see, smell and taste all the different fruits, vegetables and herbs growing or enjoy a walk around the Loch taking in all the wonderful wildlife and nature.
There’s always lots of different events on at the Centre; from Bat Walks, Pumpkin parties and our Eco Adventures holiday club that runs in the school holidays for 5 – 9 year olds. All perfect for keeping the kids busy! Check out our website, Facebook or Instagram pages for all the latest news and events or come and visit us – you’re guaranteed a warm welcome.
