Crafty Pots Cafe

We Love Ceramics!

A great place for all the family – whatever your age – to enjoy the fun of painting your own ceramic item to take home and enjoy (after it’s been fired in the kiln!).

We can help you paint your item to the best of your ability and assist with family handprints. Our staff can also offer you the chance to do a clay imprint or a Plaster of Paris out print. We can also do dog prints in clay! All designed to make a unique and lasting memory of your family as time goes by.

Whilst here you can enjoy our café which offers hot and cold drinks, cakes, snacks, sandwiches and toasties for all to enjoy.

Dogs are welcome in both our outdoor area and inside our newly revamped meeting room. Our staff absolutely love dogs so whether your popping by for a cuppa after a walk or coming into create some keepsake imprints, don’t worry your doggy is in safe hands!

Children’s Parties

We run 2 parties each weekend day (11:00 – 12.30 and 2:00 – 3:30). Our birthday parties are offered for children from 3 upwards; they get to paint a £9 ornament either using acrylic paint that they can take home on the day or glaze paints which need to go in the kiln and enjoy our party food.    We can tailor the party to meet your needs, so if your child likes something specific (maybe a mermaid, monster, cars or similar) please let us know and if there is time we can source it for you.  Our standard weekend day parties cost £12 per child which includes the ornament and party food, all you need to do is bring the cake; with a minimum of 6 children attending and a maximum of 12.

We are pleased to also be able to offer you the chance for a unique experience of having the studio exclusively to yourself, holding birthday parties from 5:15pm – 6:45pm each week day – the cost for this experience is £16 per child which includes painting an item costing £9 in glaze paints and party food after. The birthday child’s parents are required to stay but the party cost includes 2 free drinks.  Cakes, Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase by any adults staying to supervise.

For parties we require a £30 deposit to secure your booking, which is deducted from your final bill on the day.

  1. Potty over painting at Crafty Pots Cafe

The Fife for Kids team were paid to review Crafty Pots, find out what co-founder Claire had to say about her experience here:

I was delighted to be asked to take the kids along to experience Crafty Pots as I had been planning on fitting in a visit ever since it opened at the end of 2018, so this tied in nicely.

The new Crafty Pots Café is easy to find, on the main thoroughfare in the Donibristle Industrial Estate. I couldn’t see a car park, however there was enough space for us to park just on the street outside.

The café has a great set up, it’s small so if you’re visiting with small children you can sit and enjoy a cuppa and be able to see where they are at all times. Big thumbs up for those with toddlers I’m sure. The café has foregone part of their seating area to set up a play area for the kids, with a giant chalk board, dolls house, jigsaws and more. This meant for us that our visit didn’t just consist of painting and then going home. Both of our children (aged 6 and 3) played here before and after their lunch and painting fun so all in all, we ended up being in Crafty Pots Café for around 2 hours. A big thumbs up from me as I know as a parent, that you’re constantly putting your hand in your pocket to entertain the kids and there’s nothing worse than spending money on an experience and you’re in and out in less than an hour.

    So, to our experience…

We arrived and immediately the kids wanted to eat (anyone else’s kids like this every time you go out?) so it was toasties all round for us, followed by a lovely cup of coffee for the grown-ups. All arrived quickly and tasted great resulting in 4 happy people. The café had a great selection of home-baking, but I have to admit we forgot to try the cakes as we quickly got stuck into some painting after lunch. Whoops! They looked so good too!

I really like the fact that at the Crafty Pots Café the staff will bring all the painting materials to your table, so if you’re not painting, you can sit with the children and drink your cuppa…and assist if they want.

The kids took their time painting and the lovely staff were on hand to help whenever they were needed. Once they had finished the kids were allowed to see the room where the huge kiln is and were told all about the process for making it all lovely and shiny for them. There’s nothing like a behind-the-scenes tour to make the kids feel special so thank you to the team for this added touch, it really made a difference to their experience.

Some notes for parents thinking about visiting Crafty Pots:

    – It’s really easy to find using your sat nav, which is rare with industrial estates
    – There are some stairs down to the building which you should be aware of if anyone in your party has mobility issues. One of the staff members did tell me that there will be lots going on over the coming months though to improve their accessibility, but do call ahead if you have any questions
    – The café has a fab selection of ceramics to paint, with something to suit ALL budgets (ceramics from £3 and craft packs from 50p)
    – The café runs lots of events so do check out the Fife for Kids’ events calendar for more info on these
    – They can host your child’s birthday party for as little as £12 per child, which includes the painting of a £9 ornament, plus all the party food. You just need to supply the cake and at least 6 children

We had a really lovely time at Crafty Pots and found the team were fabulous and really looked after us. And since Dalgety Bay is just a short drive from where we live we will be sure to be regular visitors.

  2. Hi, just to let you know there is also a driveway at one end of our building and there is a safe, not steep pathway if you follow the fence down to a ramp in front of the building – this makes it both buggy and wheelchair friendly and also accessible for people who cannot manage steps – when the weather is a little warmer we will be adding pathway signs on the driveway!
